Dr Ross Wilkinson
Research Director
Information Engineering
CSIRO ICT Centre
Ross Wilkinson's principal research interests are in the area of
document computing which includes document retrieval effectiveness, structured documents, hypertext,
and the use of XML in document retrieval. Ross has published over 80 research papers and has served on many program committees.
In 1998 Ross co-authored a book titled "Document Computing: Technologies for Managing Electronic Document Collections",
published by Kluwer. In 1998, CSIRO worked with the Victorian government's Public Records Office to develop the Victorian
Electronic Records Strategy (VERS), a framework to reliably and authentically archive electronic documents created in

term preservation and retrieval of government records which enables Government to deliver accountability in the era of
electronic commerce. Ross was the technical director of this project.
Dr Ross Wilkinson currently leads the Information Engineering laboratory that builds technologies that enable information services
to be constructed and delivered better and cheaper by knowledge workers rather than software engineers.
